The NCAA basketball tournament is a huge betting event each year, even up here in Canada. Filling out NCAA tournament brackets in a variety of contests has become the norm for Canadian sports fans, and this exposure creates a lot of betting interest in the tournament.
I personally don’t follow college basketball during the season, but I binge watch (and bet) the NCAA tournament. The games are exciting and the single elimination aspect adds a ton of pressure to each single game and play. I know there are a lot of others like me who enjoy their weekends in March more because of the college basketball action.
On this page I will outline the best sportsbook for betting on the NCAA tournament, look at the pre-tournament odds and provide a 3 step guide to getting bets placed online for this years March Madness.

NCAA Tournament Champion Odds
Here is a screenshot of the odds to win the 2023-24 NCAA Basketball Championship from Sports Interaction. These odds were taken after Selection Sunday (odds taken on March 18th). The odds will change throughout the tournament. To see the updated odds head over to SportsInteraction.com and select ‘Basketball’ -> ‘USA’ -> ‘College’ -> ‘Futures’.
I included the 11 teams with odds of 25-1 or better in the screenshot.
As you can see Connecticut is the current favourite at odds of 4-1, while Houston and Purdue are the other top contenders with odds shorter than 10-1. It would not be a surprise for any of the 11 teams in the above screenshot to win the tourney.
All it takes is a quality team catching fire at the right time to pull off a series of upsets.
One dark horse play I like is NC State at odds of 200/1. They are clicking at the right time. They had lost four games in a row leading into the ACC Tournament, but then got hot beating Louisville, Syracuse, Duke, Virginia, and UNC to win the ACC Tournament and receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. NC State is an 11th seed, but they’ve shown the ability to defeat top teams, and if they can stay hot they could have a deep run.
