Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund in last years Champions League Finals. That victory allowed Real Madrid to extend their lead in total Champions League titles, with their 15th win. Real Madrid are second favourites, next to the 2023 Champions League winners Manchester City, to defend their title at the start of the 2024-25 Champions League tournament.
This year the Champions League will change formats, with a 36 team league phase replacing the traditional 32 team group stage. The league phase will see each team playing 8 games against different opponents, with all teams ranked in a single joint group. The number of matches will increase from 125 in the traditional group stage to 189 matches in this league phase. The top 8 teams from the league phase will advance to the round of 16, while the teams ranked 9th to 24th will compete in a two-legged play-off round to qualify for the round of 16, and the teams ranked 25th to 36th eliminated from the competition.

Champions League Winner Odds
I’m updating this article in mid-September, just before the 2024-25 Champions League league phase begins. The league phase will continue until January 29th, 2024, followed by 24 teams progressing to the knockout stage, with the finals scheduled to take place on May 31st, 2025 at Allianz Arena in Munich.
